If you have ever fancied trying your hand at dressmaking and want to see if it’s for you, try our taster day!
Whether you have already caught the sewing bug or if the Sewing Bee piqued your interest, if you're new to sewing then this workshop will guide you through a simple, wearable project. This is your chance to start to build your own wardrobe and sew a skirt for you.
Taking place in the beautiful Willow Centre in Cringleford, we have a cosy room with drinks, amazing cake (a speciality of our events!), tuition and a friendly environment for you to learn.
We'll walk you through the basics of making a simple A-line skirt which will include:
- how to take your measurements correctly
-pattern reading (decipher those confusing symbols!)
-sewing machine basics
-cutting your fabric and pattern pieces
-simple construction of the skirt including dart and zip insertion
- basic seam finishing
At the end of the day you’ll have a wearable item to take home! If you don’t wear skirts, don’t worry, this is just a great pattern to start your journey and learn all the basics to take your forward in your sewing journey. Today a skirt, tomorrow the world!
